How to prepare your property for a drone shoot

September 22, 2026

A little preparation makes a big difference in aerial photos. Here is the checklist we send to every client before a real estate shoot.

Outside

  • Move cars out of the driveway and off the street in front of the home.
  • Close garage doors and trash bins out of sight.
  • Mow, edge and clear leaves; turn on pool lights and fountains.
  • Remove hoses, toys and covers from the pool deck.

Inside (for FPV fly-throughs)

  • Turn on every light and open blinds and interior doors.
  • Clear countertops and floors; hide cables and pet items.
  • Keep people and pets out of the flight path during filming.

Timing

Mornings usually bring calm winds and soft light. For twilight sessions we arrive about 30 minutes before sunset.
