Flying drones in South Florida: airspace, permissions and safety

October 6, 2026

South Florida has some of the busiest airspace in the country. Palm Beach International, Fort Lauderdale, Miami and a dozen smaller airports create controlled airspace over many neighborhoods.

Commercial drone flights must be flown by an FAA Part 107 certified pilot. In controlled airspace we request authorization through LAANC, the FAA's near-real-time approval system, before we fly. Some sites — near runways, stadiums or temporary flight restrictions — need extra waivers or simply cannot be flown.

What this means for your project

  • Send us the exact address early so we can check the airspace.
  • Authorizations are included in our prices; special waivers are quoted.
  • We may adjust the maximum height or angles to stay within the rules.
  • Weather and wind always come first — unsafe flights are rescheduled at no charge.

Hiring a certified, insured operator protects you, your clients and your property. Always ask for the pilot's certificate and insurance before a shoot.
